About
Dr. T.S. Sampath Kumar joined IIT Madras in October 1998 as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor in July 2006, Professor in March 2009 and Professor Emeritus, Medical Materials Laboratory, MME, from July 2022. He has received his M.Sc. (Physics) from the University of Madras and PhD (Materials Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Before joining the Institute, he had worked as Reader at the University of Madras. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Ohio State University, USA and INSA Exchange Fellow in the Czech Republic in 1996, and Visiting Research Scientist at the National University of Singapore from 2005-2006.His main area of research is biomaterials focusing on the novel processing techniques and understanding of functional behavior of nanostructured biomaterials to facilitate the development of next-generation medical implants. He has developed Nano calcium phosphate ceramics as a multifunctional Nano platform for therapeutic and drug delivery applications and a contrast agent for multimodal imaging of bone tissue interface.
He has also published a book on Biomaterials: A Nano Approach, CRC Press, in 2010 and has been granted eight patents. He...
