Dr. Samuel Bernard is currently a senior research scientist employed by CNRS as a research director working at the Institute of Research for Ceramics (IRCER, Limoges). His main expertise focuses on the Polymer-Derived Ceramics (PDC) route to design novel functional inorganic materials. He received his BSc degree in inorganic chemistry (Univ. Lille, France) in 1996 and he graduated in Materials Science (Univ. Bordeaux) in 1998. He then moved to univ. Lyon where he received his PhD degree in inorganic chemistry in 2002 before studying one year at the Max-Planck-Institute for Metal Research (Stuttgart, Germany; 2003). In Jan. 2004, he got a CNRS Research Fellow (tenure) position and joined the Laboratory of Multimaterials and Interfaces (LMI, univ. of Lyon) before moving to the European Institute of Membrane (IEM, univ. Montpellier) in 2010. He was appointed as a research director (Tenured senior scientist) by CNRS in 2016 to be assigned at IRCER in 2017. He is JSPS and ECERS fellow.
