Prof. Ionescu started as a Heisenberg Fellow in the Institute of Materials Science at TU Darmstadt, Germany in 2019 till 2021. He then assumed charge as Dy Director of Fraunhofer IWKS (Fraunhofer Institution for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies in Alzenau). Since Jan 2026, he has joined as Professor of Chemical Materials Technology at Technical University of Vienna.
|ABSTRACT
In this talk he will cover the following topics:
1. Development of bioactive silicon oxycarbides ? to demonstrate how structural disorder can be used to tailor (functional) properties in polymer-derived ceramics.
2. Development of compositionally complex transition metal nitrides, carbonitrides and carbides ? to provide insights related to effects of compositional disorder on the properties
