B.Tech

Course Objectives: Providing a firm foundation in the fundamentals and applications of current metallurgical and materials science theories. Inculcating multidisciplinary skills required for contributing to advanced materials and metallurgical technology, both nationally and globally.

Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)

Entrance: Admission through JEE Advanced

Eligibility Criteria: Either 75% marks or among the top 20 percentile of candidates in their XII board exam.

Features:

  • Overall credit requirement is 432, which includes 149 core course credits, 41 elective course credits, 86 free elective course credits and basic sciences, humanities and basic engineering courses totalling 156 credits.
  • An additional honours degree (B.Tech (Hons)) is also offered, for which overall credit requirement is 450 including 190 core course credits, 27 elective course credits, 86 free elective course credits and basic sciences, humanities and basic engineering courses totalling 156 credits.
  • A project work is optional for B.Tech and it is compulsory for students willing to obtain B. Tech (Hons).

Admissions into the 4 year B.Tech are through the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). Students initally enrolled into B.Tech program have the option of converting to Dual Degree at the end of their third year.
