M.Tech

Course Objectives: Enabling student to complete course work and defend an original thesis based on the work carried out in the chosen area. It also aspires to fulfill essential objectives for learning outcomes in all undergraduate disciplines relevant to the field of study chosen during masters.

Duration: 2 years (4 semesters) with fellowship

Entrance: Admission through GATE

Eligibility Criteria: B.E/B.Tech (or) M.Sc (Life Sciences/Chem./Maths /Physics) (or) Associate Membership holders with 60% marks in qualifying exam and with valid GATE score. B.Tech graduates from IITs having 8.0 and above CGPA (7.5 for SC/ST) can apply without GATE score.

Features:

  • Students to complete 196 credits, that include 51 core course credits, 45 elective course credits and project work credits 100.
  • Students can apply for DAAD sandwich scholarship, for project work at a German University. A number of other overseas student exchange programmes are also available.
  • Conversion to PhD is possible if CGPA of 8.0 or more is obtained.

Admissions to the two year Master of Technology (M.Tech) program happens once year during the July semester. Applicants are expected to clear the all India Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam. GATE exam is typically conducted once a year sometime between mid January to mid February. Students with a valid GATE score are considered as Half-Time Research Assistants (HTRA) and are paid for their duties as Research Assistants, according to the norms of Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD). Most of the students joining the program have a prior B.Tech degree. B.Sc + M.Sc is considered as equivalent to B.Tech.
