About
Surendra B. Anantharaman has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras since May 2023. His current research focuses broadly on strong light-matter interactions, light-emitting devices, energy harvesting systems, and spin/charge injection in perovskite optoelectronic devices. Before joining IIT Madras, he was a Group Leader for Perovskite Optoelectronics division at AMO GmbH, Aachen, Germany and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He investigated exciton-polariton dynamics upon strong light-matter coupling without an external cavity from two-dimensional (2D) perovskites, transition metal-dichalcogenides, and emerging 2D hybrid materials. He received his Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 2019 on “Exciton Dynamics in 2D Organic Assemblies for Realization of Next-Generation Optoelectronic Devices”. He also had a stint working with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Taiwan, in the Thin Films Division before joining the Ph.D. program.
